A night of two halves: Firstly, poetry from Frank Rafferty, John G Hall and Jessamine O’Connor. Then after a short musical break, Tony Curry’s one-man show with a chat afterwards.

Tony Curry is a performance poet, playwright, workshop facilitator, soundsmith and enabler. Raised in Crawley by English and South African parents, he has lived and worked in Manchester for three decades, running literature-in-the-community projects with a specific leaning towards mental health and wellbeing.
Tony’s solo spoken word shows include:  Tall Tales For All Men ,Brit BoyComplicit RelationsMoving and The Odyssey, performed at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre. His play, The Teddy Bear, was staged at Manchester’s Contact Theatre and his work has been exhibited at the city’s art gallery and museum. Since 2016, Tony has been the host of Word Central, the monthly open mic and spoken word event at Manchester Central Library coordinated by Flapjack Press and Manchester Libraries.

John G Hall is Mancunian, founding editor of infamous political poetry magazine Citizen 32. John has run an annual creative writing retreat on Arran (Scotland) for over 20 years. He is published widely in the UK and USA . His famous poetry night Beatification has run in Greater Manchester for decades.

Frank Rafferty is a performance poet from Glasgow who live in Derry, He has been published in journals  throughout UK and performs extensively throughout the UK and Ireland both individually ans as one half of notorious electro punk duo The Dead Thatchers Alien Pig Rave Experiment., Dead Thatchers for short. His most recent book ‘Rafferty’s Rules ‘ was published by Salamander Street. Frank also curates and presents a regular spoken word slot for BBC Radio Foyle’s Mark Patterson show. He has also encouraged new talent via his monthly Silver Tongued Deviance open mic In Void Gallery, Derry.

Jessamine O’Connor is a writer based locally who has numerous poetry books, awards, and a novel out in May. She is delighted to welcome the visiting poets to Boyle as part of their Irish tour and guarantees a unique and exciting night.
