All welcome to this crossover of poets from Scotland to Ireland –
Neil Young reads from his new collection, The Song She Didn’t Sing’(Seahorse Publications), billed as ‘a rogue tour through the back lanes of history’ and featuring a cast list that ranges from Rosa Luxemburg to Brendan Behan and William Blake . . . while Julie McNeill brings We Are Scottish Football (Luath) to Ireland – a passionate verse sequence that will resonate with anyone, anywhere, who has loved or loathed ‘the beautiful game’.
Acclaimed poet Charlie Gracie will read from his collections ‘Belfast to Bailleston’, ‘Tales from the Dartry Mountains‘, and ‘Good Morning‘, and local writer Jessamine O’Connor, whose most recent collection ‘Silver Spoon’ (Salmon) was hailed for its broad vision, tackling themes of conflict and migration to love and loss, will read from her forthcoming book and a recent pamphlet ‘The Opposite of Grieving‘.
Neil, Julie and Jessamine are also editors with the poetry publishers Drunk Muse Press and will have some of their catalogue available to buy, as well as their own books.
There will be live traditional and folk music, and an open-mic opportunity afterwards, so come early to sign up for that.
This event is kindly supported by the Roscommon Arts Office and King House. Admission is free.
