Connaught Rangers

The Connaught Rangers were an Irish line infantry regiment of the British Army formed in 1793. Two years later King House would become their headquarters.

From Georgian Home to Infantry Barracks

The Connaught Rangers were installed in King House, transforming it from grand Georgian family home into a barracks for 272 men, with a 30-bed hospital and jail cells. It would remain in the possession of the British army until Irish independence.
